Special Camps to the Impoverished
Medical Skin Camps – 25 & 26.10.2023
JKP Connect went to meet with the doctors and patients during the special 20th Anniversary Medical Skin Camp held between 25th to 26th October 2023. Over 700 skin patients were treated by three Skin Specialists who have taken the time out to treat these impoverished patients. The Doctors, Dr. Patel, Dr. Khanchandani and Dr. Langer returned (3 months later) to once again be a part of this Skin Camp. Please watch that amazing video documentary at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTmoyWcD_T4&t=128s to learn more about these valuable medical camps.
During our visit to the October camp, we met with Mrs Anjum Afroz Shekh, 46 years old, a Muslim housewife from nearby Kunda who visited JKC Mangarh to attend this camp. She was seen by our consultant Skin specialist, Dr Cheena Langar.
The patient’s feet and legs were showing many red and white spots. Dr Langer diagnosed it as Pigmented Purpuric Dermatitis. (PPD). In this medical condition, blood vessels become weak, and blood starts to come out of the vessels.
As the patient was suffering from hypertension and thyroid conditions, our doctor attributed it to be one of the likely causes. Standing too long with one posture also causes this.
Progressively, this can increase and spread to her other leg too. Changing daily routine and postural changes helps in this situation. Doctor advised her to sit on a stool whenever she gets tired from standing too long, whilst doing her household chores.
She was advised to have a good nutritional diet. Doctor prescribed some medicine for her spots and also calcium which will help her. Patient was happy that she got a consultation with a good skin specialist and was confident that she would be cured soon.

Mangarh Hospital – Eye Camp (2-4 Nov 23)
JKP Connect went to meet with the doctors and patients during the 3-day eye camp that was conducted in Jagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalaya, Shri Kripalu Dham.
Many patients, from as far as Prayagraj (90 kms away) had registered to be part of this camp. As many as 320 surgeries took place. Most of the patients were elderly people who had no financial means of getting cataract treatment for themselves.
We met with Mrs Chandrakali Vishwakarma, an elderly lady, 74 yrs old, from Manipur, Kunda, a village 40 kms away, who came for her cataract operation during the 3-day Eye camp. She had previously come to our hospital for a cataract operation on her right eye and now she was getting it done on her other eye too. We met her as she came out of the operating room with an eye patch. She was being led to the post-operation room, a big hall, where she and many others like her, were laid down on beds with clean linen.
Nurses were there in attendance looking over every patient to ensure that they were fine. Mrs Chandrakali would spend the night here under the watchful eyes of the nurses and doctors. Medication would be administered to each and everyone of them. She would not have to worry about her meal as light meals will be provided to all the patients whilst they were under the care of Jagadguru Kripalu Chikitsalaya.
Doctors will again check each patient the next day and ensure that each one is doing okay and fit for discharge. All the patients will receive the necessary medication and follow-up appointments to see the doctor again in a week and again after a month, before their case will be finally closed.
When we spoke to Mrs Chandrakali, she was full of praise for the hospital doctors who conducted her cataract operation. It was carried out in our modern operating theatres by one of our experienced Ophthalmologists, Dr Lapam, and the whole procedure took less than 5 minutes. She did not suffer any pain and described it as merely an ant bite. She commended our hospital staff for their great work in providing top class medical care, and that too, totally free of cost. She had no words to express her thanks to Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj for his mercy and compassion towards poor people like her, who had no other means of saving their eyesight.
Upon discharge the next day, she and all other patients were presented with a warm blanket by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat to help them tide over the harsh winter months ahead. All the eye patients were seen off by our doctors the next morning, and each one with black glasses and wearing a smile on his and her face, bid goodbye, knowing that they would regain their eyesight and see the beauty of the world once again. For the doctors, seeing their toothy smiles as they trooped out hugging their blankets close to their chests, was a reward in itself.
Our doctors work selflessly for the Divine cause of their Guru, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, whose only agenda was to serve mankind. They have truly helped to bring light into so many poor elderly people’s lives and made them capable of leading their lives with dignity and not becoming a burden on society. A special Yog Shivir was held in Kripalu Dham from 16-18 Nov 23. Naturopathy Doctors, Dr Amrita Mishra and Dr Sanjay Tyagi led the sadhaks on the Yoga sessions,
Many devotees dressed in yellow pants and kurtas took part in this early morning yoga session conducted by our experienced Yoga teachers. At the end of the one-hour session, a healthy breakfast of mung bean sprouts, veggies, herbs and lemon and a refreshing green juice was served to all participants.
We spoke to a few participants at the Yoga Shivir.
Jyotsna Vasudeva, USA
I loved doing yoga at Guru Dham Mandir. My body has loosened up a little bit. There was lots of fresh air and right under the skies, we did different yoga asanas. The yoga teacher advised us to focus on Shri Maharaji’s face and then bring it to his charan and back to his face, essentially focusing on the Divine, whether it be Maharaji or Shri Radha Krishna. He explained that it is important that we are just not doing physical exercise but are also doing roopdhyan meditation at the same time. It was a very enjoyable session.
Sunita Lal, USA
Yoga Teacher was very nice and taught us how to meditate on Maharaji and keep the focus not only on breathing, but focus on Shri Maharaj’s face. It was fun doing yoga in front of Guru Dham. In yesterday’s session, we were taught how to do the pranam, bringing our hands up and offering flowers to the Guru, and bringing them down and touching your heart, where Shri Maharaji resides, almost like caressing Him. The exercises were great. It was a very lovely session.
Smita Agarwal, Delhi
Liked this yoga session a lot, got a lot of energy, my body was stretched and I felt relaxed. Maharaji is a divine personality and whatever guidance he gives us, it is beneficial for us both physically and spiritually. Doing yoga right in front of Maharaji’s Guru Dham gives you great motivation and it boosts you. This session re-emphasises again on the need to take proper care of our body, so that we can move ahead spiritually, as guided by Shri Maharaji.
Ram Agarwal (son of Smita Agarwal) – Delhi
Feel a special aura doing yoga at Guru Dham Mandir. I participate in tough sports at school which makes my body stiff, whereas yoga gives flexibility to the body. I feel really good. I look up to Maharaji as my Guru, guide, relative and everything. I just love him from the bottom of my heart.
