Sharat Purnima has come once again…

A beautiful pad or devotional song from ‘Prema Rasa Madira,’ depicting a Gopi’s viraha state (separation) from Lord Krishna during Sharat Purnima.  Prem Ras Madira is a principal composition of 1008 pads of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj’s and arguably his greatest contribution to the spiritual and material world.

Puni Sharata-Purnima a Gai

puni sharata-purnimā ā gai

Śharat Purnima has come once again.

The rainy season is also over.

kauna prita kī rīta mita ki, bīta arī varaşhā gai

What mode of love of our Beloved is this? He has neither returned,

nor has He summoned us to join Him.

nahim aye nahim hamahim bulaye, asa kubarī mana bhā gai

Has Kubja become so dear to Him? O Beloved!

jo kiya piya! apamāna sadā tava, so phala hama bhala pā gai

We are now reaping the consequences of insulting You constantly.

de do kshamādāna aba hama kaham, bāni kṣhamā kī kā gai

Please forgive us now. What has happened to Your nature of forgiveness?

kaha ‘kripālu’ yaha sharata-rāsa sudhi aurahum āga lagā gai

“The memory of those sweet nights of Śharat Purnimā spent with You in the

mahārāsa, is just adding fuel to the fire of separation.”
